My company has just bought some brand new netflow analysis and sflow analysis software. I was a bit worried when they first bought it because not only was it from a company that they had not purchased from before, but they did not do much research before buying it. I am not sure why they did this, whether they had a good salesman or whether it was the cheapest or some other reason, I don’t know. I would always make sure I knew what was required from a piece of software and make sure that not only did it have all of those functions but it was the cheapest product that did everything that I wanted. However, I was not consulted so did not get a chance to give my point of view. I have been using the software for a few weeks now. On the first day of using it, I started to get the hang of how it worked and now I think I have got a grasp of everything that I need to know about and I am getting interested in finding out what else it can do. I am sure it has many features that at the moment I do not need, but I am interested in finding out in case I either need them in the future or feel that it would be a good addition to the work that we are doing at the moment.I do not normally get this interested in software, I tend to just use what I need to and ignore the rest. There is something about the way this analyses the data that makes me want more! Oh dear, perhaps I need to stop typing before anyone reads this over my shoulder and things that I am turning into a complete geek!
